The Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath (Mark 2bq)

Mark 2:18-3:6
Key verse 2:27-28

1.     [Mark 2:18-20] Why did some people accuse Jesus concerning his disciples (18)? How did his illustration defend them (19-20)? And what did this tell the Pharisees about Jesus and the purpose of fasting?

2.     [21-22] Why would no one sew a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment (21)? What about putting new wine in old wine skins (22)? What did this illustration teach the Pharisees about Jesus and about their own problems?

3.     [23-26] What was the Pharisees’ accusation against Jesus’ disciples (23-24)? What did David do with the consecrated bread (25-26; cf. 1 Samuel 21:1-6)?

4.     [27-28] What did the story of David teach them about the Sabbath (27)? What does it mean that Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath (28)?

5.     [3:1-4] Who was in the synagogue (1)? Why did the Pharisees watch Jesus closely (2; cf. 6a)? What did Jesus say to the man who had a shriveled hand (3)? And what question did he ask the Pharisees (4a)? What was their reply (4b)?

6.     [5-6] How did Jesus react to their silence (5a; cf. 6)? Why? What did he say to the man and what happened to his hand (5b)? What did this teach the people about the Sabbath (cf. 4; 2:27)?
