Mark 3:7-35

Key verse 35 Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.”

1.      [7-12] Where did Jesus withdraw with his disciples (7a)? But what happened (7b-8)? Discuss the size of the crowd, what kind of people were among them (10, 11, 22), and how they were served (9-11). 

2.      [13-19] Where did Jesus go and why (13a; Cf. 7)? Whom did he call (13b)? For what purpose (14-15)? Who were they (16-19)? Discuss what might be Jesus’ plan in appointing the twelve disciples at this time.

3.      [20-27] How busy were Jesus and his disciples (20)? Why did his family come to take charge of him (21)?  What did the teachers of the Law say about Jesus’ work (22)? Through a parable, what did Jesus point out (23-26)? Actually, what did Jesus’ power over Satan prove about him (27)?

4.      [28-30] What did Jesus call the remark of the teachers of the Law on Jesus’ work (22, 29; Ref: Deut 13:5;)? How serious is it (28-29)?

5.      [31-35] When Jesus’ mother and brothers came to call him, what did Jesus ask the crowd (31-33)? What was the answer that he gave (34-35)? Discuss the implication of Jesus’ word(v35) to the crowd (7-30; Cf. Jn 15:19; Lk 14:26) Also find its implication for us.
