Deut 33-34
Key Verse 4 Then the LORD said to him, "This is the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob when I said, 'I will give it to your descendants.' I have let you see it with your eyes, but you will not cross over into it."
1. [32:48-52]What did God tell Moses to do soon after writing this song (48-49)? There what would happen to him (50)? Why (51-52)?
2. [33:1-25] As he blesses Israel, who is the God that Moses is calling for blessing (2-5)? What blessings did Moses pronounce to each tribe (33:6-25)? Find the details of the two notable blessings (8-11; 13-17).
3. [26-29] Who is the God of Jeshurun (Israel) (26-27; Cf. 2-5)? What is the significance that this God is their LORD (28-29)?
4. [34:1-6] Where did Moses go (1a)? There what did the Lord show him before his death (ref. 1b-3)? Why (4a)? Discuss the sternness of God’s will in Moses’ death (4b, Cf. Rom 3:9-10; Gal 3:11).
5. [34:7-12] When and where did Moses die and how did Israel grieve for him (5-8)? Why did Israelites listen to Joshua after Moses’ death (9)? Find the greatness of Moses in the eyes of Israel (10-12).
6. Discuss Moses’ work (Ref. Exo 32:30-34), and his hope for the nation (Deut 33) and for himself (Deut 3:24-25).
