John 6:1-26
14 After the people saw the sign Jesus performed, they began to say, “Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world.”
1. [1-5a]To where did a crowd follow Jesus and why? (1-2) Where did Jesus move on further (3)? When and why (4; Cf. Mk 6:31)?
2. [5-9] At that time, whom did Jesus see coming (5a)? How might this crowd be different from the usual crowd (Cf. John 7:12-13, 31-32)? What did Jesus ask Philip (5b)? Discuss this question in view of his will for the crowd and his purpose for his disciples (6). What was Philip’s answer (7)? What did he mean by this? What did Andrew do and ask (8-9)? Discuss what might be the reason why each of these two came up with so different answers to Jesus’ question. Also find your answer.
3. [10-13] How many ate and how much did they eat (10-11)? How much leftover was collected (12-13)? Discuss what might be the purpose of Jesus telling them to gather the left over pieces.
4. [14-15] Seeing this sign, what did the people say about Jesus (14; Cf. Deut 18:13-15-19)? Then what did Jesus do and why (15; Cf. Mark 6:45)?
5. [16-21] As the evening came, where did the disciples go and how (16-17)? On their way, what happened to them (18; Cf. Mark 6:45-48)? At this time, what did Jesus do for them (19-21)?
6. [22-25] What did the crowd realize the next day? (22-23) What did they do then (24-25)? Why (26)?

7. Discuss the significance of these two signs for the crowd and for the disciples (Cf. Neh 9:10-17). Also find why Jesus dismissed the crowd and sent away his disciple quickly (15, 19 Cf. John 12:24-27).
