Do not stand in God's way (Acts 11aq)*

Act 11:1-18
Key Verse 17

1.    [1-3] What did the Apostles and believers in Judea hear (1)? Who criticized Peter (2)? Concerning what (3; ref. Genesis 17:10-14; Acts 15:1; see also Galatians 2:11-12)?

2.    [4-10] When and where had Peter received a vision (4-5a)? What was the vision (5b-6)? What voice did he hear (7)? What was Peter’s response to the voice (8)? What did it say the second time (9)? How many times did this happen? By telling this story, what did Peter imply?

3.    [11-15] Right then, who came to see him and what did the Spirit tell him (11-12a)? Who was with Peter when he entered the man’s house? Why did the man send for Peter (13-14)? As Peter began to speak, what happened to the man’s household (15)? What do you think Peter tried to testify about these things by relating this experience?

4.    [16-18] At this, what word did Peter remember (16; Ref. Mark 1:8)? What did it mean to him (17)? When the believers and circumcised brothers heard this, what did they do (18)?

5.    Discuss how the new way of God’s salvation differs from the believers’ previous understanding of salvation (ref. 3; Ephesians 2:8; 2:14-16; Colossians 2:11; Romans 4:11-12). What does this mean to you?
