Be committed to the grace of God and finish the work
Acts 14:1-28
Key Verse 26 From Attalia they sailed back to Antioch, where they had been committed to the grace of God for the work they had now completed.
1. [1-3] Where, to whom, and how did Paul and Barnabas speak at Iconium?(1) What was the result?(1b) What did the unbelieving Jews did? (2) What did Paul and Barnabas do to support for the brothers? (3a) When they did so, what did God do in support for them? (3b)
2. [4-7] How was the city divided? (4) Who plotted what against the apostles?(5) When the apostles found it out, what did they do? (6-7)
3. [8-17] In Lystra, what did Paul do for a lame man? (8-10) Why? When the crowd saw this, what did they try to do?(11-13) Why? How did Barnabas and Paul respond to them?(14) What did Paul and Barnabas say about themselves and about God?(15-17) Why?
4. [18-19] How did they respond? (18) Why? Who won over the mind of the crowd? (19a) What did they do to Paul? (19b) When he got up, what did Paul do? (20a)
5. [20b-21] What did Paul and Barnabas do at Derbe? (20b-21a) How and when did they complete the missions in the region of Lycaonian cities? (21a) Compare the results of the mission works between the two Lycaonian cities, Lystra and Derbe and find why they thought the work at Derbe made the completion of their mission. (cf. 26b).
6. [22-25] On completion of mission works, what did they do? (22-23) Why? What was the purpose of those works? (22b)
7. [26-28] According to the report, what was the work that was done and how was it completed? (26-27) Through the mission journey, what became evident to them? (27b) What might be its implication for them and for us? Review ch 13-14, and list the challenges that Paul and Barnabas faced and the things that they had to do to finish the work of God. Discuss their implications to us.
