1.
[15:22-27] Where did the
Israelites find water? When (22-23)? Why did they grumble? To whom (23-24)? How
did the Lord help resolve the problem (25a)? What was His ruling and
instruction (25b-26)? Why did He give them such a ruling (26b)? What might be
the test? How was it related to the events at the River of Marah? After this,
where did the Israelites go and what did they find there (27)?
2.
[16:1-8] When, to whom,
and why did the Israelites grumble again (16:1-3; Ref. Numbers 11:5)? Discuss
the difference between their lives in Egypt and the life they lived during the last
thirty days they spent in the desert. Also, discuss the cause and nature of
grumbling. What plan did God tell Moses (4-5)?
3.
[6-8] What was God going
to do (6-7a)? Why (7b)? Through this event, what else would they learn about
God (8)? Why would He do this (8b)?
4.
[9-14] What did Moses
and Aaron tell Israel to do (9)? How did God reveal Himself among them (10-11)?
Why? What was His message to Israel (12a)? What was His purpose in this (12b)?
What does this mean? During that evening and the next morning, what happened
(13-15)? Discuss the relationship between v6-8 and v9-15.

[16-20] How much manna
did each Israelite collect? (16-17) What was the result (18)? What were God’s instructions
for handling the manna (19)? What did some of the Israelites do? Why? What
happened as a result (20)?
6.

day, how much were they supposed to gather (22)? What did God command regarding
this (23-26)? Discuss the meaning of ‘a day of Sabbath rest’ and ‘holy Sabbath
to the Lord’ (ref. 29-30). Why did some
of the Israelites still go out to look for manna on the Sabbath (28)? What did
God teach them regarding such an attitude (29-30)?
7.
[31-36] How did the
bread God provided taste, and what did they call it (31)? What did God command
Israel to do with this bread (32-34)? Why (Hebrews 9:3-4)? How long did they
eat manna (35; Jos 5:12)? What was the significance of manna for Israel’s life
(4; Deuteronomy 8:3,16; cf. Genesis 3:17-19; John 6:31-58)? Discuss this, in
regard to their grumbling.
