O Immanuel ! (Isa 8q)

O Immanuel!
Isaiah 8:1-22
Key Verse – Isaiah 8:10 “Devise your strategy, but it will be thwarted; propose your plan, but it will not stand, for God is with us.”
1.       [Isaiah 8:1-4] What did the Lord tell Isaiah to do (Isaiah 8:1)? How did he follow through with God’s command (Isaiah 8:2)? What did he do next and what happened  (Isaiah 8:3a)? What did God tell Isaiah to name his son (Isaiah 8:3b)? What’s the name’s meaning (Isaiah 8:4)? What message did God want to convey through this?
2.       [Isaiah 8:5-10]What was the Lord about to do (Isaiah 8:7a)? What would be the result of His actions (Isaiah 8:7b-8)? Why (Isaiah 8:6)? What was the relationship between the signs God promised and whatHe said here (Isaiah 8:5-8)? What did the nations try to do to Judah (Isaiah 8:9-10)? What would be the result of their actions (Isaiah 8:9-10; ref. Isaiah 7:13-16)? Why (Isaiah 8:10)?
3.       [Isaiah 8:11-14] What did the nations consider  conspiracy (Isaiah 8:12)? What did they fear (Isaiah 8:12; ref. Isaiah 7:1-2)? What was God’s warning to Isaiah (Isaiah 8:11-12)? Why (Isaiah 8:13)? Why should Judah  fear God instead (Isaiah 8:14-15)? What did it mean that God was the Lord Almighty and would be a holy place, in regards to this context? What does Isaiah mean that God would be a stone to stumble,  a rock to fall, or a snare to trap them? How could God be a stone,  rock,  trap, or  snare for the people of Judah?
4.       [Isaiah 8:16-18] What did God command Isaiah to do (Isaiah 8:16)? What would Isaiah and his children do (Isaiah 8:17-18a)? How would their actions serve  Israel (Isaiah 8:18)?
5.       [Isaiah 8:19-22] Whom would the people consult (Isaiah 8:19)? What should they do instead (Isaiah 8:20)? Why (Isaiah 8:19b)? What does it mean to consult God in this context? If Judah did not consult God, what would happen to them (Isaiah 8:20b)? What does this mean (Isaiah 8:21-22)?
6.       Discuss the significance of the crisis that the nation of Israel faced and what we can learn from it.
