See the kingdom of God (John 3aq)

John 3:1-21

1.       [1-3] Who was Nicodemus? (1) What did he know about Jesus? (2) When and why did he visit Jesus? (2; Cf. 3; 7:25-27; 9:24) Discuss the positive aspects of his visit to Jesus. What was Jesus’ answer to his quest? (3) 
2.       [4-8] In Jesus’ answer, what difficulty did Nicodemus see?  (4) What was Jesus’ answer about ‘being born again’? (5-7)  Discuss what Jesus’ answer means particularly in view of v8.
3.       [9-12] What did Nicodemus ask? (9) What did Jesus rebuke him of? (10) Why? (11) Discuss how Nicodemus could begin to understand the things of heaven and how it is related to his quest (12; Cf. 3)
4.       [13-18] What is the uniqueness of the experience of the Son of Man and its implication? (13; Cf. 12) What was the Son of Man to do? (14; Num 21:4-9) Why? (15) What is God’s purpose in this? (16-17) What’s the implication of all these for Nicodemus? (18)

5.       [19-21] Find the ground for the verdict.(19a) How and why do people find themselves in a different verdict from the other?(19b-21)  Discuss what it means to see the kingdom of God and how one can see the kingdom of God. Consider its implication for you.
