Accept His word and be certain of God’s truthfulness (John 3bq)

John 3:22-36
Key verse 3:33

1. [22-26] After the meeting with Nicodemus, where did Jesus go and what did he do there? (22; cf. 4:2) When, where and what was John doing? (23-24; cf. 1:28) On what did an argument develop and between whom? (25; cf. 1:24-25) Why? (cf. 26) What did John’s disciples complain about? (26)

2. [27-30] What was John’s reply? (27-28) What was his view of himself and his role? How did he describe his joy? (29) What did his final remark show about his value system and his life goal and his joy? (30; cf. Phil 1:20)

3. [31-32] Verses 31-36 seems to be the concluding remark on this story by the author John. How does the one from above speak differently from the one from the earth? (31a) Why? (31bc)  Despite of such difference, how did the people respond to him? (32) What does this tell us about the people?

4. [33-36] What does one who accepts the word of the one from above certify? (33) Why or how? (34) What has the Father placed in the Son’s hands and why? (35) What is “everything?” (cf. 36; 17:2; Matt 11:27; 28:18) What are the consequences of two different responses to the Son? (36; cf. 3:16-18)
