Caesar's and God's (Luke 20cq)

Luke 20:20-26
Key verse 20:25

1.       [20] Whom did the teachers of the law and the chief priests send to Jesus? (20a) Why? (20b: cf. 19:47; 20:19)

2.       [21-22] What did they recognize about Jesus’ way of life (21; cf. 20a) What was their question? (22) When the same principle is applied to them, what did they believe on this matter? Why was this question a dilemma for themselves?

3.       [23-24] What was the duplicity that Jesus saw through? (ref. 23:2) What did he ask them to do? (24a) What question did he ask them, then? (24b) What was their answer? (24c) What did this disclose about them?

4.       [25-26] What was Jesus’ final answer to their question? (25) What do Caesar’s and God’s refer to? (Rom 13:1-6; 1 Peter 2:13-14) Why did they fail to see this truth? (cf. Matt 17:24-27; Deut 28:43-45) What did Jesus’ statement reveal about his authority? What was their reaction? (26)
