Deut 7:1-27

2 and when the LORD your God has delivered them over to you and you have defeated them, then you must destroy them totally
6 For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession.
1. [1-6] How and what nations would Israel conquer (1-2a)? When they conquer the land, what were they to do (2b-3, 5)? Why (4, 6)?
2. [7-11] Why did the Lord set his affection on Israel (7-8)? What’s its implication (9-11)?
3. [12-15] In what condition will God keep his covenant of love with them (12)? Then how will God bless them (13-15)?
4. [16-21] What must they do with all the people that the LORD gives over to them (16a, Ref. 2b)? What thoughts may make them reluctant to carry out this command (16b-17)? What are God’s answers to the each of those thoughts (16b, 18-21; Ref 3-6)?
5. [22-24] What is another concern on driving the nations out (22a)? How or when will God help them complete this (22b-24)? Why is it important for them to know this in respect to their confidence in the Lord and to their life with those nations until they are totally driven out?
6. [25-26] Concerning their gods, what warning does God give them (25-26; Cf. 2)?
7. Discuss how Israel was to handle the nations that God was going to give them. Also what might be the most important thing in this? What might these principles be applied to us today (Eph 1:4; 2:21)?
