2.                   [Jonah 1:3-4] What did Jonah do (Jonah 1:3)? Why did he flee from the Lord? What did the LORD do to handle Jonah’s running away (Jonah 1:4)?

3.                   [Jonah 1:5-6] What efforts did the sailors make to save themselves (Jonah 1:5-6)? What was Jonah doing at this time? Why?

4.                   [Jonah 1:7-10] What further efforts did the sailors make (7a)? What was the result (Jonah 1:7b)? What information did Jonah divulge (Jonah 1:9)? What was their response (Jonah 1:10)? Discuss the difference between Jonah’s and the sailors’ efforts to handle this crisis.

5.                   [Jonah 1:11-16] What solution did Jonah offer them (Jonah 1:12a)? Why was he so sure about this solution (Jonah 1:12b)? What further efforts did the sailors make to save themselves and Jonah (Jonah 1:13)? Why (Jonah 1:14)? When they throw Jonah overboard, what happened (Jonah 1:15)? What did the sailors mean by doing this (Jonah 1:16)? What do all these suggest about God’s will?
